The Rock, Amsterdam

The office tower Mahler 4, also known as The Rock, is part of
an expressive high-rise urban development south of Amsterdam, named Zuidas. Located in the proximity of the city centre and with direct access to the urban network of public transport, airport and highways, the project incorporates the potential of this unique location.

The leading Dutch law firm De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek chose the Erick van Egeraat office tower, a landmark in the Mahler4 area at the prestigious Zuidas to be the new company’s headquarters.

In order to match the needs and demands of De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek, being the sole tenant of the building, several amend- ments were made to the program. The specific programme, com- bined with the special design and the carefully selected materials, has resulted in a unique building which optimally matches the need of De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek.

Bauporte Design Entrances BV designed, manufactured, installed and performs maintenance to the 3 Full Vision revolving doors.

At the main entrance “the tallest revolving doors in the world” have been installed. The revolving doors have a diameter of 3400 mm and an awesome walk-through height of 7100 mm and are constructed entirely from glass. In-ground heaters are built into
the floor to prevent draught. In addition, the building is properly sealed by the Bauporte revolving doors, since the fully automatic, curved night door locks in a sliding manner across the same height of 7,100 mm and bolts automatically. The other 2 Royal Full Vision TALL revolving doors have a diameter of 3400 mm and a height of 4400 mm respectively 3300 mm.
