Construction Specialties (C/S) has completed internal refurbishment works at Stepping Hill Hospital’s award winning maternity ward in Stockport, Greater Manchester. The hospital is the first in the UK to install the company’s new Acrovyn 4000 range of PVC-free impact protection solutions.
Stepping Hill Hospital’s maternity service has been rated amongst the best in the UK, following feedback from patients and staff. When planning its refurbishment, the Trust was keen to specify only the most sustainable, hygienic and durable products to help maintain its recognised high standards.
C/S supplied and installed a full range of internal protection products manufactured in its new Acrovyn 4000 material. Free from potentially harmful chemicals such as PBTs (Persistent Bioaccumulative Toxins) and BPA (Bisphenol A), the product is also 100% recyclable. Installed by C/S’ in-house installation team, Conspec Contracts, a range of impact protection systems including handrails, crashrails, corner guards and bed locators were fitted throughout the busy corridors and in bed bays of the maternity ward.
Kate Waterston, Field Sales Manager at C/S said: “Our PVC-free range is ideal for hospitals like Stepping Hill that put sustainability and performance high on the agenda.
“We recommended Acrovyn 4000 for the maternity ward due to its durability and ability to withstand impact. The shallower grain of the Acrovyn 4000 texture makes it easy to keep clean, helping to ease internal cleaning regimes and maintain the high standards of hygiene essential in hospital areas.”
As well as the profiles installed at Stepping Hill Hospital, C/S offers Acrovyn 4000 in wall and door sheeting. The range is available in a variety of colours and designs and provides architects, specifiers and designers with the ultimate in sustainable solutions.
