Project: School, Watford, Hertfordshire

During periods of warmer weather, rooms can become uncomfortably hot – especially those with numerous or large windows. An application of solar control window film from The Window Film Company will help combat the unwanted heat, with many films rejecting up to 77% of solar energy.

Public buildings often have large expanses of glass, and that was the case at a Hertfordshire school, whose staff turned to The Window Film Company to help reduce the heat build-up called by a large bank of glass roof panels.

After a discussion regarding the project, it became clear that an internal application of high reflective silver would be the most appropriate solution. Once applied, the film reflects away the sun's energy, keeping the room at a moderate temperature by not letting the heat into the room. It is this functionality that makes window film so much more effective than blinds. As well as providing solar control, this type of film reduces glare, and also cuts out up to 99% of the sun’s harmful UV rays.

At the highest point, the glass that required attention was 6 metres from the ground, meaning a scaffold tower was required to carry out the installation. The Window Film Company’s teams of installers are vastly experienced and fully qualified, and have had extensive training at working at height. By investing in our teams of fitters, The Window Film Company is able to guarantee a perfect installation, even when faced with difficult fitting conditions.

On this occasion a five metre tower was erected and used by a two man fitting team, who fitted the film to the glass roofing in the school’s garden room, creating an instantly more temperate environment for the pupils and teachers to operate in.

High reflective silver is just one of a wide range of solar control films offered by The Window Film Company. For more information about how our products can help you beat the heat, contact one of our fully trained and friendly Account Managers for advice, samples and a quick and simple quote.
