Beautiful timber windows by Mumford & Wood have been specified by Cluttons, the notable property company, in the extensive and luxurious refurbishment of Lincoln Court, Maida Vale.
The property, an early 20th Century mansion block of 6 contemporary-style apartments, falls within the conservation area of the City of Westminster. The area is mostly residential, mainly affluent, with many large late Victorian and Edwardian blocks of mansion apartments.
At the six-storey Lincoln Court, Conservation™ Tilt & Slide sash windows have been installed by main contractor Balfour Beatty Construction Services. These specially adapted sash windows are hung on pre-tensioned springs and have a tilt and slide bottom sash which efficiently and conveniently tilts inwards into the room. Externally the window suites with the rest of the collection and has slender meeting rails, fine glazing bars and traditional mouldings.
“This innovative design feature allows the lower sash to be released and tilted for easy access, maintenance and cleaning,” says Tom Barfield, sales director, Mumford & Wood Limited. “The Tilt & Slide window is the natural choice for mid and high rise developments, such as mansion apartment blocks with difficult external access.”
Mumford & Wood worked closely with Cluttons at the pre-tender design stage to provide details and specifications. Ben Lines, Associate, Cluttons LLP, says: “I was very happy with the design and after sales service provided by Mumford & Wood and the quality of the windows are excellent. The tilt and turn feature is a real benefit for our client which enables some maintenance and cleaning work to be undertaken without the need for expensive external access equipment.”
