Leading UK manufacturer Keston Boilers has supplied a Keston Combi 30 boiler, Keston built-in-timer and compact filter to Flat 14, Dehavilland Studios in East London. The building, designed by Owen Williams, one of Britain’s best-known architects of the 1930s, was once an aircraft parts factory for the De Havilland Aviation Company and survived the Blitz as well as the inevitable post-war developers. The building was separated into live-work spaces in the 1990s before being converted into 30 luxury apartments and remains an outstanding example of industrial Art Deco architecture. A Keston Combi 30 boiler has been installed in the kitchen area of the open-plan 1200 square foot ground floor apartment.
The Keston boiler was specified by Dave Crystall, Director of Dengie Heating Services Ltd. It was chosen due primarily for its versatility as its twin flue system allows the boiler to be situated anywhere up to 27 metres from the flue outlet. Dave says that the main challenges with the installation were the relatively tight location of the boiler and removing the existing twin flue in the ducting and replacing it with the new flue pipes. Due to the way that the existing flues were positioned, the only option for the job was a Keston boiler due to its twin flue capability. Dave is also keen to point out that this choice means that the customer will enjoy the benefit of an energy efficient boiler which is reliable and safe to use.
