Due to the surge in popularity of its Evoque and Freelander marques, Jaguar Landrover’s plant in Halewood, Liverpool moved to 24-hour production with an introduction of an extra shift and more jobs. With the significant increase in foot traffic on the production line, a heavy duty matting system was needed which could be laid along both sides of the car assembly line to provide a slip resistant and anti-fatigue solution for its workers.
Crossgrip was chosen because of its previous high performance record in other areas of the plant.
Crossgrip is manufactured in a flexible PVC construction and is loose laid. This means it can be installed quickly and easily and will contour over uneven surfaces, ramps and changes in level while remaining firm and in place underfoot.
The matting is also easy to cut and shape on site to fit around obstacles and machinery and can be easily rolled up to facilitate cleaning. These benefits, coupled with it being virtually maintenance free, makes Crossgrip the ideal solution for the Jaguar Landrover plant.
Managing Director of Le Controls Owen Doyle comments, “We knew we wanted Crossgrip matting as its been more than successful at others areas around the site. It’s very good at providing grip underfoot, it’s sturdy on the slopes and doesn’t shift. The matting is also comfortable to stand on which was an important consideration for our workers who can be standing for long periods of time.”
Crossgrip is manufactured in the UK from flexible PVC. Its deeply etched open grid surface is self-draining, resistant to UV and bacterial growth and is virtually maintenance free. Due to it its flexible construction, it is easy to lay and contour and is permanently stable. The matting is supplied in 10m rolls and in standard widths of 60, 91 and 122cm.
