Calthorpe Park School in Fleet, Hampshire, has recently been refurbished and extended thanks to Hampshire County Council. Tobermore helped the council achieve the design vision for the project with the supply of Fusion block paving – a strikingly attractive hard landscaping solution.
The scheme was developed by Hampshire County Council as a method of responding to the considerable amount of new housing in Fleet which has led to increasing numbers of school pupils that the existing facilities could not cope with. Rather than expanding the school in a staging process, the council committed to increasing the facility’s capacity to 1,450 in one single project.
The council appointed RPS Architects to design the new areas on site and Balfour Beatty was assigned the job of managing the construction works, which took place over a period of 18 months.
Tobermore Fusion block paving was selected as the best hard landscaping option for the project. Fusion is a modular paving system that is manufactured with a granite aggregate surface layer that produces a modern appearance similar to natural granite. Fusion in the colours of Sandstone and Mid Grey was selected for the grounds at Calthorpe Park School which complemented the red brick buildings and timber facades on site beautifully.
