Fish shop, Piraeus

Project: Fish shop, Piraeus

Vynagrip matting, manufactured by Plastic Extruders Ltd, is solving a slippery problem for the largest fish shop in Piraeus, the port of Athens in Greece.

Fresh off the boats each day, large quantities of fish are delivered together with packed ice, while over counter machines continually spray water to keep the fish wet.  The result was that the shop’s tiled floor used to become very slippery with increased risk of slip and fall accidents.

To solve this problem, Vynagrip matting was laid alongside the counters to create a safe and slip resistant surface. This popular matting is self-draining because its open grid format and its textured surface quickly and efficiently drain large amounts of water. Vynagrip is made from 2 layers of non-porous, flexible PVC that are welded together to create extra strong joints.

Supplied in 10m length roll format in different widths, the matting can be rolled up easily to facilitate cleaning while long seamless runs can be achieved.

Vynagrip is available in red, blue, black and black with yellow edgings to mark routes and delineate areas. The black version is made from 100% recycled material, making it an even more environmentally-friendly product.
