Vynagrip matting has been installed for the safety of workers at Alan Bartlett and Sons, a family-owned farm in Chatteris, Cambs which specialises in the large scale supply of carrots and parsnips.
The matting, manufactured in the UK by Plastic Extruders Ltd, has been laid along the production lines where pickers inspect the vegetables as well as beside the cutting and packing machinery. Vynagrip was chosen as the existing chequer plate floor was not only uncomfortable for the workers who spend long hours standing but also slippery when wet.
In this situation, Vynagrip was the ideal solution as its cushioning properties give added underfoot comfort while its deeply-etched surface makes it highly slip resistant (to standard DIN 51130 – R11). Its open grid construction allows for liquid spills and production waste to fall through, further reducing the risk of slips and falls, the most common cause of major injuries in the workplace, according to the HSE.
Vynagrip matting is extremely hard wearing and can be easily rolled up to facilitate cleaning. Its PVC construction makes it resistant to oil, acid and chemicals, whilst being easy to cut and shape to fit around obstacles.
The matting is supplied in standard colours of red, blue or black with the option of additional yellow or dark grey safety edges to mark routes and delineate walkways. Black Vynagrip is manufactured from 100% post-industrial recycled material and is fully recyclable, making it a sustainable and an environmentally-sensitive choice.
The matting is produced in 5m or 10m roll lengths, 60, 91 or 122cm wide, and also in 80 x 120cm or 100 x 150cm standard modules with bespoke sizes available to order.
