ENER-G has been selected to supply combined heat and power (CHP) technology for phase two of the Leopold Estate housing scheme in Tower Hamlets, London.
The low carbon energy generation system will serve 516 new homes in the second phase of development by Poplar Housing Association. In the first phase, ENER-G supplied a 35kWe CHP unit.
Mechanical and electrical contractor Orchard Plumbing Ltd appointed ENER-G to supply and commission the ENER-G E185 (185kWe/308kWth) low NOx CHP system, designed in line with BREEAM 2014 emissions requirements. This system, which is expected to be commissioned by March 2016, ensures low emissions output throughout the operating life of the product.
Orchard will be responsible for installing the technology in the basement plant room, adjacent to the existing CHP unit. Countryside Properties (UK) Ltd is the main contractor for the housing development, which also includes new public open space and public realm works.
