This private house is situated right on the Scottish coast and is exposed to frequent high winds and harsh marine air and thus required extremely durable door and window systems.
Timber doors & windows have been used throughout the project, all with external aluminium cladding to give the frames protection from the environment. All hardware is specially coated to protect it from the harsh marine air and ensure a long life-span.
Two products have primarily been used, the Thermo HS Alu lift & slide doors for seamless access out to balconies and patio areas, and the other system uses was the Combi Timber+ windows and doors.
The Thermo HS Alu doors are ideal for this project as they are built to such high specifications they can easily deal with the not only the harsh, salty sea-air but also the strong winds that this house is exposed to. Due to the compression seals on the sliding door panels which are engaged when the door is shut, the doors ensure a high level of wind resistance and air-tightness.
All the doors & windows supplied are finished internally with a light stain to allow the timber to be predominant in the interiors. Externally the aluminium is finished to RAL 7009 Green Grey which complements the timber cladding not only when first installed but will continue to look just as good when the cladding greys and matures over time.
