Cheslyn Hay Sport & Community High School in Staffordshire has acquired a strong reputation for its work in curriculum development, care, support and guidance and is committed to doing the best for all students. Opened in 1977 and currently with around 1340 students, the school focuses upon health and fitness for all working in the school and provide increased quality access to physical activity.
At the end of 2010, Cheslyn Hay School decided to update their sports grounds to create a purpose built, floodlit multi sport installation, using 6,000m² of Playrite Conqueror 40. An excellent choice for both football and hockey, the 3G surface meets FIH and IATS performance standards as well as EN 15330 part 1. With reduced maintenance and increased playing time, a surface from Playrite can greatly improve the sports facilities at any establishment.
To complete the project, Dura-Sport Limited, one of the UK’s leading independent synthetic surfacing contractors was selected to install Playrite’s Conqueror 40. Both Dura-Sport and Playrite are members of SAPCA and Dura-Sport is also a member of API. Dura-Sport’s installation was completed to an exceptionally high standard, despite the challenging weather conditions encountered during December and January. The school, Leisure Centre and Staffordshire County Council are all delighted with the quality and appearance of the new all-weather sports facility, which is an exciting addition to the excellent facilities already on offer at the school. Tony Porter from Staffordshire County Council commented on how: “Playrite’s Conqueror 40 surface ticked all the right boxes for our project. The surface looks and plays to the standard we were hoping and expected.”
The project is now complete and awaiting student’s return from the half term holidays. The official opening is Tuesday 1st March and the school are thrilled to confirm that the current England and Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart will be officially opening the sports facility.
