Ballymoney Council Invest £1.26m in Megaw Park Redevelopment

Ballymoney Borough Council has recently injected £1.26 million in a redevelopment programme for Megaw Park in Ballymoney, which has been transformed with the addition of an innovative new landscape featuring a variety of Tobermore paving products, including the provision of a SUDs solution.

The park, located on the Coleraine Road within Ballymoney town, has changed beyond recognition following the refurbishment, which was designed by R & R Robinson and managed by McAvoy Construction.

As part of the comprehensive scheme, a new pavilion, including a warden’s office, has provided improved changing facilities for the existing soccer pitch, and a mix of traditional and interactive play equipment has been incorporated in a new children’s play area. An impressive new ‘tone zone’ which includes a range of outdoor gym equipment, has also been constructed for adults visiting.

Three new tennis courts, with an all year round polymeric surface has also replaced the existing courts and a new ‘sand mattress’ soccer pitch suitable for under age players.

Tobermore’s Hydropave Shannon Duo permeable paving in the muted tones of Bracken has been installed at the park as a prevention method for flooding, which has become more and more common in built-up urban areas.

As well as providing environmental benefits, Tobermore’s Hydropave Shannon Duo is manufactured with all the smooth, pristine aesthetics of the standard product equivalent, ensuring that style is not compromised.

Tegula Setts and Circle in soft Bracken has been incorporated alongside Hydropave Shannon Duo to create an attractive, focal area in the centre of the park. Tegula Setts and Circle have an aged, traditional appearance and are ideal for adding style and character to any application.

Tobermore’s Kerbstone provides the perfect kerbing finish for the project, featuring a tumbled finish, similar to Tegula Setts and Circle.
