17th Century Essex Farm House

Made-to-order double glazed timber sash windows, casements and doors were used to restore and enhance this 17th century Essex farmhouse. Lomax + Wood provided their Gold Package Installation Service, which ensured the homeowner had complete peace of mind.

This imposing Essex farmhouse demonstrates that it is possible to replace draughty, single glazed windows with high performance double glazed products and retain the historical sight lines. In fact, this quality renovation, using Lomax + Wood’s made-to-order range of conservation area approved wooden windows and doors, required the replacement of single glazed wooden windows and poor modern replacements. The overall effect was to restore the fine period sight lines using elegant glazing bars, while ensuring the property met up to date thermal and acoustic standards.

Lomax + Wood provided a complete supply and fit service. This involved surveying the windows and doors, manufacturing and fitting. “We chose Lomax + Wood not only due to the quality of the samples we saw and the recommendation of friends,” says Mr. Edwards, homeowner. “Lomax + Wood offered a premium installation service. To be frank I’m surprised many wooden window firms do not offer this. I certainly did not want to find tradesmen to fit somebody else’s products and then play the blame game." Further details on the Lomax + Wood installation services can be found here

All these quality wooden sash windows, casement and doors were supplied factory double glazed, fully weather-stripped, with spray applied micro-porous paint and all the ironmongery.
