Our story

The Building Centre has a story like no other.

First established in 1931, and based at Conduit Street, The Building Centre moved to its Store Street home in 1950.

Designed by Messrs, Taperall and Hasse, 26 Store Street was one of London’s first reinforced concrete structures, initially built to house the Daimler Motors London showroom. Since the centre acquired it, the building has transformed into a buzzing central hub championing the built environment.
