Case Studies

The following cases illustrate how The Building Centre has assisted overseas companies. These services for groups of companies are available when arranged through a national trade body or commercial office in a UK based embassy.

Canada

The Building Centre was commissioned by the Canadian High Commission and the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation to conduct a year long ‘matchmaking’ project to locate potential business partners or customers in the UK for 40 Canadian companies wishing to develop business here.

The companies represented a diverse range of products including timber housing components, doors, windows, flooring and HVAC.

The Building Centre conducted a targeted programme of activities to promote the companies including, direct mail, telephone canvassing, exhibition representation, press campaigns, market research, inward missions and scheduled meetings.

Over 400 quality business leads were passed to the Canadian clients.

As part of our export promotion strategy, we recently commissioned The Building Centre's research team to undertake a long term market development programme to attract potential UK business partners to discuss opportunities with manufacturers of Canadian building products and housing systems. Attracted by their reputation, contacts and unique knowledge of the UK construction market, we have been delighted with the response so far and with the comprehensive range of sales and marketing initiatives undertaken to support our campaign.

Norway

The Building Centre was commissioned by Innovation Norway to assist 10 Norwegian product manufacturers to locate UK partners.

During the year long campaign The Building Centre sourced specific targets to market the companies products which included windows, doors, timber housing, multi fuel stoves, insulation and HVAC products.

The campaign resulted in over 250 quality leads being generated and an inward mission being organised with scheduled meetings.

The London office of Innovation Norway commissioned The Building Centre to develop and carry out a 12 month promotional and marketing campaign in the UK on behalf of a group of Norwegian manufacturers of high quality building systems and components. By taking advantage of The Building Centre’s services, several of the participating companies were able to develop specific new business leads including, in one case, an initial contract to build more than 30 homes in the West Midlands region. Given the success of the campaign, our intention is to undertake a similar exercise in collaboration with The Building Centre for a second group of companies.

Czech Republic

With the accession of the Central and Eastern European economies to the EU in 2004 the UK is able to enjoy the benefits of unrestricted trade with these dynamic countries.

The Building Centre assisted Czech Trade in 2006 with locating UK business partners for a varied selection of construction products and services companies.

The promotion of the companies included targeted mailings and e-mail campaigns together with attendance at exhibitions to represent the companies.

The campaign culminated in an inward mission to the UK where the Czech companies met with UK potential business partners.

Czech Trade commissioned The Building Centre to represent the Czech building materials industry during a nine month long project to source UK business partners and customers. Promotional activity of The Building Centre included representing the Czech materials sector at two major exhibitions including Interbuild. As a result of the success of this propject and the quality leads generated a new initiative was commissioned with The Building Centre the following year to represent the Czech construction sector.
