Style and luxury for Preston students

Around 3000m² of timber effect sheet vinyl and luxury vinyl tiles, low maintenance sheet vinyl safety flooring and decorative rubber stud tiles - all from commercial flooring specialist Polyflor Ltd - are featured in the Scholars Bar and Restaurant and in a refurbished hall of residence at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) in Preston.

Timber effect luxury vinyl tiles from the Polyflor Expona art & design collection feature in the bar and restaurant in Foster Building and on common landings in the Ribble Hall of Residence.

Also in Ribble Hall, stylish wood designs from the Forest FX collection of sheet vinyl brings contemporary styling to student bedrooms and corridors, with Polysafe Astral safety flooring installed in kitchens and Noppe rubber stud tiles enhancing safety underfoot on stairs.

Combining stunning designs with quality materials and proven functionality, the Expona art & design collection has been specially developed to widen the horizons of creative interior design, offering a balanced choice of 20 timber and 20 stone/design effects.

Suitable for very heavy commercial use and ideal for a variety of education, leisure, retail and specific healthcare installations, Expona features a polyurethane surface treatment, aiding maintenance and removing traditional restrictions on freedom of design choice.

Sophisticated and highly realistic wood designs in an impressive choice of 14 shades and textures are key features of Forest FX, which is targeted primarily at the education, healthcare, and high street sectors. The range has excellent durability and also features a polyurethane reinforcement (PUR), which protects the floor during installation and handover and facilitates a polish-free maintenance regime, achieving maintenance cost savings of up to 48%.

Polysafe Astral sheet vinyl safety flooring in 14 lively shades, each offering multi-flake decoration, incorporates Supratec+, the second generation of Polyflor’s unique soil releasing polymer system, now including polyurethane for reduced dirt pick up, even easier maintenance and life cycle cost savings of up to 60%. As well as meeting the performance requirements of EN13845, the range conforms to HSE guidelines, achieving a sustainable slip resistance value of 36 on the RRL Pendulum wet test (using Four-S/Slider 96 rubber) and a surface roughness of Rz 20µm.

The Noppe Stud Tile has high abrasion and cigarette burn resistance, with low opacity and smoke toxicity in case of fire, making it ideal for very heavy traffic areas such as education and healthcare premises.

Featuring a 28.5mm diameter low profile stud for better ergonomic performance, the range provides a balanced selection of 12 neutral and bold, bright shades in 3mm gauge, with six colours also available in 4mm gauge. A complementary range of colour contrast stair nosings, fully compliant with building safety regulations, is also available.
