Polyflor keeps sailors safe in Cowes

Low maintenance sheet vinyl flooring from the Queen’s Award for Enterprise winning Polysafe collection has been widely installed at the Island Sailing Club in Cowes, Isle of Wight - organisers of the world famous Round the Island Sailing Race and major contributors to Cowes Week.

Slip resistant Polysafe Corona, in a pleasing Geyser Blue shade, has been fitted in the club’s entrance lobby, stairs, upper lobby and bar, and features the club’s logo inset into the floor of the main lobby.

The installation was carried out to a design by Cowes-based DesignTime Interiors by local flooring contractor Dabells Furnishings Combining the latest advanced performance and maintenance technology with a superbly fresh colour palette, Polysafe Corona incorporates Supratec+, the second generation of Polyflor’s unique soil releasing polymer system, now including polyurethane for reduced dirt pick up, even easier maintenance and life cycle cleaning cost savings of up to 60% over traditional safety flooring. The range also features an advanced formulation, providing enhanced flexibility for even easier fitting and welding.

As well as meeting the performance requirements of EN13845 and being BBA Agrément certified as G5ws, Corona provides sustainable slip resistance throughout its guaranteed life, achieving 36 on the RRL Pendulum wet test (Four-S/Slider 96 rubber). This, combined with a surface roughness of Rz 20µm, ensures that Corona complies with Health and Safety Executive guidance and with EN 13845, the European Norm for Safety Flooring.

The practical appeal of the range is matched by its aesthetic appearance - a superb choice of 12 fresh, vivid colours, carefully chosen to complement shades available in Polyflor’s heavy duty smooth range of commercial floor coverings, thus enabling architects and designers to co-ordinate and contrast colours across different use areas.

Polysafe Corona has been independently tested and results demonstrate that the product inhibits the growth of MRSA. An effective cleaning regime is, however, the most important defence against infection.

Fully tested to fire safety standard EN13501-1, Polysafe Corona is certified as Class Bfl-S1, achieving the criteria EN ISO 9239-1 8kw/m² and the mandatory requirement of EN ISO 11925-2 pass.
