New Polyflor collections target nuisance noise
In response to growing demand for effective and attractive solutions to noise pollution in buildings, commercial flooring specialist Polyflor Ltd has launched two new heterogeneous sheet vinyl ranges alongside its established Acoustifoam system, to create the Polyflor Acoustic Flooring Solution.
“Fuelled by legislation and general demand, the market for acoustic flooring is vast and various,” says Polyflor marketing manager Simon James. “The new products are therefore tailored to meet the appearance and performance requirements of specific end user sectors.”
New Polyflor Gallery FX Acoustic - in 14 wood, stone and mottled granite effects and featuring a 0.5mm wearlayer - is seen as especially suitable for residential areas such as aged-care, social housing and student accommodation and also for heavily trafficked areas in schools and hospitals.
New Polyflor Forest FX Acoustic - comprising 10 highly popular wood effects from Polyflor’s existing Forest FX range and with a 0.65mm wear layer - has been developed for use in very heavy commercial installations including schools, universities, hospitals and other heavy footfall public buildings.
Both collections provide a high impact sound insulation of 19dB and feature a polyurethane surface reinforcement (PUR) for reduced maintenance.
“By offering both specifications we can closely match individual end use requirements,” says Simon James. “The lower specification range of design effects in Gallery FX Acoustic targets the important social and aged-care housing market, whilst the commercially strong wood designs and higher specification of Forest FX Acoustic suits very heavy commercial and general light industrial installations.
“Teamed with Acoustifoam - our 2mm closed cell foam backing sheet which can be used in combination with many of our heavy duty and safety sheet vinyls to achieve an impact sound resistance of 18dB - these new products provide us and our customers with a powerful solution to the problem of nuisance noise.”
In line with Building Regulation Part E, all Polyflor Acoustic Collections are produced in accordance with EN ISO 140-8.
