Colourful cuts brighten Staffs hospital

Bright complementary shades from low maintenance heavy duty sheet vinyl flooring from commercial flooring specialists and Architects for Health think tank sponsors Polyflor Ltd have been used to create colourful inset motifs as part of the refurbishment of the reception area, corridors and stairways at Staffordshire General Hospital. Installed by flooring contractors Multifloor Ltd, the inset designs feature colours from Polyflor Prestige PUR and Polyflor 2000 PUR and were created via the Polyflor Expressions Design Service, which uses computerised water jet cutting techniques to produce a variety of precise shapes and styles for inlaid decoration. Polyflor Prestige PUR, in 16 modern colourways, and Polyflor 2000 PUR, in 25 bright shades, both feature a high quality polyurethane reinforcement which, combined with a superior closed surface finish, can cut maintenance costs by up to 48% by facilitating a low cost, polish-free maintenance regime for the lifetime of the floorcovering.

Both products have been independently tested and results demonstrate that they inhibit the growth of MRSA. An effective cleaning regime is however, the most important defence against infection.

Both also meet the performance requirements of EN 649 and, fully tested to fire safety standard EN 13501-1, are certified as Class Bfl-S1, achieving the criteria EN ISO 9239-1 8kw/m2 and the mandatory requirement of EN ISO 11925-2 pass.

In common with all Polyflor sheet vinyl floorcoverings, they can be welded at the seams and to coved skirtings to create continuous, impervious surfaces offering no sanctuary to dirt and bacteria.
