Novelletta

19 June - 10 July

Novelletta is a manifesto based on the research, explorations and projects carried out by the Malta-based architectural practice Architecture Project (AP).

The manifesto provides a vision for Valletta, a former fort, the capital of Malta and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It poses the question how do you built contemporary architecture in these surroundings?

The manifesto examines the history of the sixteenth century city, the confines of the walls, its edge with the water, and the limited opportunities for access. It takes note of a need for an increase in openness and for the contemporary and future demands on the city, the imperative to rethink itself, and to be receptive. Finally it proposes real thought and launches the opportunity for debate through a few selected historical "axioms".

Novelletta is a continuous and open-ended proposition which is informed by the daily activities and processes of AP. In turn, it initiates and influences future processes and connections within the firm's architectural practice.

On Monday 21 June at 6:30pm Architecture Project (AP) will give a talk to elaborate on both their work as a practice and the continuing evolution of Novelletta. To book a place please email: ann@ap.com.mt
