The Carbon Challenge: Seminar Programme

Presentations will explore what bidders for Hanham Hall learned when designing the UK's first community to be constructed to Level 6 of the Code for Sustainable Homes.

Monday, 2 June, 3pm-5pm - Carbon Challenge - Home.

A close look at the building methods, construction details and products needed to build new homes at Level 6 of the Code for Sustainable Homes.

Chaired by John Tebbit, Industry Affairs Director, Construction Products Association Presenters will include:
Terry Ritchie, Group Technical Director, Barratt Developments Plc;
John Cover, Technical Director, Gleeson Homes;
Lynn Sullivan, Executive Director for Sustainable Design, InBuilt Consulting;
Jonathan Jennings, Divisional Sustainability Manager, Kingspan; and

Rory Bergin, Head of Sustainability and Innovation, HTA Architects (project architects for Barratt Development Plc’s Carbon Challenge design);
Stephen Proctor, Partner, Proctor and Matthews (and designer of Gleeson’s Carbon Challenge submission);
Ben Cook, Senior Land Manager, Barratt Developments Plc; and
Steve Peters, Southern Region Managing Director, Gleeson Homes.

Wednesday, 11 June, 3pm-5pm - Carbon Challenge - Energy Solution

What is the solution to delivering zero carbon energy for housing developments? Chaired by Philip Wolfe, Chief Executive, Renewable Energy Association;
Presenters will include:
Nick Merridew, Associate Director and Chris Twinn, Director of Sustainable Building, ARUP; (designers of the Biomass CHP system for Barratt Development Plc’s winning Carbon Challenge bid); and
Representatives from Talbots and Dixon Deboise for Gleesons.
