From aspiration to reality: lessons for delivering green housing from the Whitehill & Bordon Eco-town terrace competition

Friday 22 June, 8.30 - 9.30am

In 2008, Whitehill & Bordon was selected to be one of four Eco-towns that would set new standards for zero carbon development in the country. Over the last two years, work has been underway to build a small number of demonstration projects that test new technologies and methods for delivering low energy buildings. The Eco-terrace competition is the third demonstration project that will form part of a small exhibition site in the town. The competition was looking for a design team that could address contemporary challenges in housing today: delivering sustainable, liveable and affordable homes.

Robin Nicholson, senior partner at Edward Cullinan Architects, will chair the discussion, with contributions from Sarah Allan – Whitehill & Bordon Eco-town team, sustainability expert - Richard Partington from Richards Partington Architects, the client – Jonathan Rickard from Radian Housing Group and the winning team – Robert Sakula from Ash Sakula Architects, with Michael Popper from Michael Popper Associates.

Free to attend. Booking essential.
