www.boscons.co.uk is the website of a business which offers a service to companies within the UK’s construction industry who might wish to establish and develop successful trade relationships with suppliers and manufacturers in China.
"We established the business because although there is general awareness of the potentially large cost saving opportunities which exist in China, many companies might not know where to start, or require some ongoing guidance."
"The services we offer often evolve to suit our customer's needs" says Director Tim Regan. "We might start by sourcing products, component parts or materials and providing prices from several suppliers. We can visit factories on behalf of our customers, arrange sample matching, resolve communication difficulties and if necessary remain involved with logistics management and quality control".
Tim's business partner Daqi Fan regularly returns to his home city of Qingdao to meet with business associates and staff. Qingdao is a major industrial city with a population of around 7 million people situated on the coast at the tip of the Shandong Peninsula and it will be host to the sailing events of the 2008 Olympics. The city has a major port which handles exports and imports on a vast scale.
Boscon's staff have strong relationships with some Qingdao based companies that are supplying materials for use in the construction of stadiums to be used in the 2008 Olympics. Tim Regan says he hopes these contacts will benefit customers such as contractors who may be involved in the construction of stadiums in London over the next few years.
"Recently researched products and materials have included flat pack homes, glass for a variety of applications, granite, doors, several joinery related projects, kitchen and bathroom fittings, various frames and fixings, aluminium cladding, insulating materials and green energy products such as wind turbines and solar panels" says Daqi Fan.
Doing business in China can be challenging and rewarding and it is certainly on a growing number of to do lists. The primary interest is cost savings and although there are risks and difficulties they can be mitigated with the right planning. "Our primary objective is to introduce our clients to cost saving opportunities whilst removing some of the risks and solving problems that might arise" says Daqi Fan.
